“Baymard’s training provides the proper language and sound evidence to understand what it means to create a truly usable interface in the ecommerce business.”
“I wanted to begin by saying how incredibly impressed I have been with the degree/depth of content shared on UX/UI best practices for eCommerce experiences. This has by far been one of the most valuable workshops I have ever attended in my professional career.”
“The UX training course with Baymard is something I wish I had the opportunity to do many years ago. It is a subject matter that everyone who touches any process of website development should know first-hand. Christian did an excellent job at explaining the many guidelines and made it easy to take-in a large amount of comprehensive information without feeling overwhelmed.”
“The training was worth every penny and kudos to Christian and Lauryn for doing such a great job. My mind was definitely blown.”
“Your company produces an excellent product suite: research, training, contextual examples, and the review tool all in one. It should be core training for most roles in e-commerce focused digital agencies.”
“Baymard’s UX training week was invaluable. Christian presented the company’s vast research in an organized and digestible format that encouraged actionable takeaways. I can’t wait to share these learnings with my colleagues!”
“Absolutely superb training! I’m genuinely impressed with how much I learned in 5 days. I would highly recommend this training to anyone who wants to learn how to create state of art e-commerce user experiences.”
No, once a user has been assigned a seat on the UX training platform, they have unlimited access to all courses, degree, UX certification at all level levels, and external inspirational courses. Visit the Seat Management page to assign seats to individual users.
No. Users can, alternatively, take individual courses focusing on a specific area of e-commerce UX – for example, a course just on “product pages’, “cart & checkout” etc. These courses are also available at the same 3 levels of difficulty as the degrees.
Any progress made within individual courses will automatically count as progress toward the degree and UX certification. (Certification requires completing all courses within a degree)
See the complete course list on the catalog page.
Users can earn UX certification within the 3 degrees: UX UX Practitioner, UX UX Professional, or UX UX Master. To become UX certified, users will need to pass an online multiple-choice exam for each of the 6 courses in the degree. The 6 exams are taken separately (approx. 20 minutes each) as the user progresses through each of the 6 courses in the degree. This ensures that the exam topic and users' current training progress are closely aligned. Once the 6th exam is passed, the user is certified and can get an optional public profile at baymard.com/certified. You can learn more about the exam format and requirements under each degree page.
(If you take the courses separately, and not through a degree, your exams will also count towards certification)
The UX training courses are based on the same 150,000+ hours of UX research findings as the guidelines are — and those guidelines covered during training are the same as what you’ll find in the Guideline tool.
Video guideline summaries for a large part of the courses (UX Practitioner relies the most on video, UX Professional uses a mix of article texts and video, and UX Master relies mostly on article texts with optional videos).
Quizzes to test your knowledge as you train.
A guided training flow through the most important Baymard UX research. Curated by Byamard’s research at 3 different levels of difficulty.
UX certification to document your UX skill, along with a public profile at baymard.com/certified (optional).
The UX training & certification is currently built to cover 40-80% of Baymard’s core e-commerce UX research & guidelines. So it’s directly applicable to traditional industries such as Apparel, Home & Hardware, Mass Merchants, Direct-to-Consumer, Electronics, Furniture & Home Decor, and Health & Beauty.
The majority of the training will also be relevant for B2B e-commerce, and specialty industries such as Food & Groceries, Travel, Telco & ISPs, Digital Subscriptions & SaaS, etc. However for this latter group of specialty industries, we recommend that you first read the guidelines in the “Essential” collection within your industry before taking training (it is the first guideline group after choosing your industry).
A unique aspect of the UX training platform is that for each UX research finding taught, users will assess your site (or a client’s) through the embedded ‘Review Tool’, providing your team with a continuous stream of UX insights.
All of these individual site assessments get added to a single scorecard deliverable with high-level UX insights that can be circulate with your team, colleagues, or your client.
Yes. Assigned seats can be unassigned and reassigned to different users via the Seat Management page.
If there’s value in having a different employee occupy one of your training seats, then you can rotate the seat at any time on the Seat Management page.
However, below are 6 benefits of keeping the UX training seat for an employee after they have become UX certified:
For most UX designers and UX researchers and those who work directly with UX decisions on a weekly basis, then item #2, #3, and #6 would typically be enough to get a positive ROI. For whom this is worthwhile is up to you.
Yes. Each user's progress can be tracked via the skill matrix on the Team Skill Matrix page.
Research findings are updated on a regular basis as part of our ongoing research initiatives. Whenever an existing guideline is updated or deprecated, the training platform and certification exams are updated to reflect these changes. Similarly, new guidelines added to the research catalog are evaluated and added to relevant courses at the time of publication.
Yes. Baymard Premium plans allow for unlimited users within the same organization to create a Baymard Premium profile, and any Baymard Premium user can be assigned a training seat.
To grant training access to users who are not directly part of your team, simply send them an invitation to join Baymard Premium and, once they've finished the sign-up process, assign them a seat via the Seat Management page.
